Conventional engine designs are unable to meet the additional reductions in emissions set by EURO 4 regulations, so new technology, in the form of exhaust after-treatment, has been needed to bridge the gap between the current levels of emission and the new limits.
There has been a need to go back to the drawing board to develop lubricants that meet the demands of Euro 4 and as a result, Castrol has developed a new formulation of additives to reduce or replace certain elements, ensuring the lubricants technology is suitable for the Euro 4 engine technology.
